HI ladies
yet again I'm sensing there is a growing interest in learning Tribal in the Northern Nsw area and I've been contacted by a couple of dancers around Murwillumbah who seem keen to get a regular class going to learn this style, and I do agree its something that needs to be watered/practiced regularly if its to happen.
I know when we last looked at the costs from Byron it was hard to justify a regular event - but I thought I'd shoot an email out to see who was interested in a once a month workshop which could be run over a saturday afternoon followed by a sunday morning refresh? If you know of anyone who'd be keen to get together to come and learn please get them to send me an email... maybe looking at an hour and half both days....if I know of interest levels I can work on if the costs are feasible for me to commit. I'd hope to be able to do this for around $50 per attendee if we got sufficient interest (would that be in your budget??) with opportunity for half hour privates for any addicts after.
Cheers
Dee

  • Hi Dee

am sorry to say I live too far away to come up to M'bah. Not wanting to appear to be a copy cat, I am currently sounding out with prominent teacher for a similar set up for them to come to Newcastle once a month and inbetween we can water and practise regularly, as you say.

Had some nibbles for tribal jam, but the last week and a half has been very hectic, so when my mental capacity has recovered, I will pursue that.

I used to live in Tumbulgum, Tweed Heads and on the Gold Coast and still have family in the area, so I wish I was still there to avail myself of more tribal dancing in Murwillumbah.

    Cheers, Susan

Whew...theres's that done - Susan how'd your plans for your workshop travels go??
    • Hi Dee - glad to see your belly dance workshop series is taking off. Good luck. It is such a great opportunity for students to have great teachers visit their area. A visitng teacher is so valuable to help protect the integrity of Tribal, especially in teaching the vocabulary of a particular style, eg. Gypsy Caravan.

Dee, I am still negotiating with Devi Mamak of Ghawazi Caravan for Ghawazi Caravan teachers to come to Newcastle - we are getting closer to an agreement. Phew!! I am hoping to have 4 lengthy classes, held about 3 to 4 weeks apart, finishing just before the Trance and Tribal Fest.

Our little troupe met last night, and decided to order some tops and pants from Mirahmar, so hopefully by the Festival we will have a new look. I still love the big skirts and choli tops because they are so flattering for most people. My troupe is itching to add some Tribal Fusion to their repertoire. They are really keeping me on my toes.

      Cheers, Susan
