I have just received information from Eleni Smith of Araby Belly Dance on the Gold Coast, that she is hosting Melusina - Underbelly for 3 workshops in May this year (after Syd MED Fest). Just google Araby Belly Dance or Melusina/Underbelly for more details. Was thinking that Dee, Madonna et al might be interested.

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 2:45 PMI'd be interested in any of her workshops that are not correography based. She was at Bamedam last year but sadly I could only attend half a workshop. -

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 2:14 AMHi Dee
Indeed, big sister Susan is getting bigger! Thought you might appreciate knowing about Melusina's workshops.
Hey Saahira, Eleni's website is www.araby.com.au. I do not know whether Mel will be doing a choroeo. She did a sword choroeo at Syd Med Fest last year.
Will we see either of you at the tribal soiree in Wollongong on the 15th/16th March? My new little troupe will be performing.
Cheers, Susan

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 12:59 PMahhh March is out right now for us given we're putting all pennies aside to see Paulette on the 28th. I'd like to go to Sydney in May for the pre-tribal fest event but have a feeling its the same weekend as Mel on the goldie
I got the info last night from Elenie - all workshops have choreo, with I'd expect some technique focus...am thinking I'll pop my head into the fusion one....
hows the troupe prep going?are they all jumping out of their skin? -

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 6:39 PMYep - they are jumping out of their skin. We are still sewing and making furiously. Phew, that is another side of being "the teacher" that I find frustrating. Keeping the look cohesive as a troupe, and allowing self expression. But I think we have done well. Yesterday we were making the most fantastic pantaloons, so hugh in fact, that we had to make pleats in the side (which was what I intended) - and they have big cuffs.
Some of them are in a steep learning curve. The student troupe has only just come together, so we are choroeographing a dance, and keeping it simple. but still looking strong. I sound like a proud mother!
Good luck with Mel's workshop.
Cheers, Susan

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Sat, March 8, 2008 - 2:37 PMThanks for the link Susan. I dont think Ill be going - I'd rather keep my money for more technical based workshops. I dont think it matters if I miss out this time., because I think we will be seeing more of Mel up here. I really would have liked to have done the Black Sheep workshop at camp Bam but couldnt get a ride up that early. Apparantly she was teaching some great technique and combos in that workshop.
15th and 16th March is actually my workshop weekend so sadly I cant come and peek at the tribal soiree - Wheres Wollongong btw?
Im one of Dees Tribal students so Im sure we will cross paths in the future :) -

Re: Melusina workshops on Gold Coast - May
Sun, March 9, 2008 - 1:42 AMDare I say we might bump into each other at the Trance and Tribal festival in September?
Like you, I am more interested in technique based workshops, I love drilling because my memory isn't particularly sharp, so while choroeo's are, well um ok, I love new steps and refining old ones.
What is with it with the choroeo based workshops anyway? One teacher I know, who is not a tribal teacher, presented the choroeo in two workshops of hers, which I attended one year apart! I think she was just working out a difficult choroeo as she went along, which lost me and a lot of other workshop participants.
Cheers, Susan
