Hello

With the fast arriving end of 2008, its getting time for the Blossoms to start planning our next Feast of the Senses event - due for Winter 2009. We began Feast of the Senses with a view to creating a Tribal-themed event in Brisbane highlighting both local and regional & interstate talent. We also incorporated an Art display within the venue, and artworks were sold, food was enjoyed and a great time was had by all!

Afterwards we got to thinking, with the view to repeating our event every two years - and expanding on what was offered. We're now looking to run Feast of the Senses as a two-day mini-festival - with a Tribal-focused performance night at a swanky venue (to be finalised) and a day of workshops aimed at the Tribal Bellydancer to enjoy. Ideally this would occur with a Saturday night gala, then all the workshops at our inner-city venue on Sunday kicking off at 10am with a variety of classes on offer running til about 4pm when we'll all join in for a drumming/dancing jam at the end.

I'm looking to offer an all inclusive ticket for any interested attendees - with an early bird price of $100 which will include Gala night entry, and up to 5 workshops on offer. The workshops will be running consecutively so you can get as much or as little as you want - your ticket will provide you entry to any class you wish to book for....there'll also be stalls available with tribal goodies, and food will be available to enjoy in your break. We'll also have space within the market area for you to practice with your dance buddies what you've just learned, or relax with a massage or just chill in the corner over a cup of chai.

I'm trying to lock in two dates right now - with a view to either June 27 & 28 OR July 25 & 26 - if you have something planned or know of another event around this time please let me know, as I'd lock not to compete for our dancing interest where possible. I hope to have dates confirmed by Christmas or sooner, at which time I'll also be able to send out an info pack about areas close to our venues to stay that may suit your troupe. I know theres some great offers on sale via the various airlines so the sooner I can get this info to you the better - flights to Brisbane are bargains right now - you can fly to & from Sydney for approx $200, to & from Adelaide & Cairns for approx $300, to & from Tassie for approx $135 each way, Perth is about $300 each way at the moment.

I'm trying to get interest right now - from Tribal Troupes who'd like to come and perform, Students who think this is right up their alley - as well as some feedback of what you'd like to see on offer from the workshops. We've got some of the workshop content planned but there is still an avenue for additional Tribal workshops if you'd like to present....please talk to me and help make Feast of the Senses 2009 fantastic!!!

Cheers

  • how exciting!!! I'm sure Black Diamond will be interested. The only issue with the dates is that I've heard Ariellah may be coming our way around the mid year mark, though no dates for that are confirmed yet.

will the art exhibition run again? I'd love to share my artwork...
    • Ariellah is coming to Australia??? ? ? WHEN?

        Hello everyone

I hope you're having a fantastic start to 2009! I'm extremely excited about heading to Adelaide next week for Paulette's workshops and of course getting to know all the tribes down there - I've been really thrilled with our class response thus far, it feels like a great year for tribal.

Just wanted to give you the latest update with Feast of the Senses 2009 - we've started taking bookings and payment is coming in slowly, we've got til the end of May for the early bird tickets to run out (or when we hit out limit of attendees, whichever happens first). If you can please talk about this with your dancers, there are some great flight bargains to be had - so far I know we've got ladies coming from Tas, WA, all over NSW and North Qld so it looks to be a great gathering for us who are tribally inclined :)

We're also happy to announce we're able to take individual workshop bookings now - which may suit some dancers who are on a budget, or who's flight and travel plans mean they wont be able to join us for the all-day workshops on Sunday. The workshops are $40 individually (with Simone Pope's being $50)

Also we're arranging catering so coffee, tea, and delicious food will be available to purchase on Sunday - catering mostly to a vegetarian or lighter type meal requirement....if you want us to serve something particular tell me now!!

I'm arranging a small print run of the pdf and flyers, if your students arent able to access this email and you'd like a hard copy please send me your address and I'll ensure some come via the post!

Wishing you all a great day!!
        Cheers

  • That sounds very exciting! And we always need a reason to get to the warmer states in winter!
    • Ooooh I'm already dreaming up a winter break in QLD, I could visit some friends, escape an Adelaide winter AND fit in some dancing as well, outstanding!!! Throw in some shopping and that's a perfect holiday ;-)
      • whoops havent updated - will have the full Feast Line up over the next couple of weeks - its July 25 & July 26 that its all happening in Bris Vegas...I'm waiting for my last workshop to confirm now - but there will be drumming, dancing, zills, sword, great classes to help your posture/dance, and of course lots of shopping and time to enjoy meeting others in the tribal community

Art is happening - we're presently looking into costs to hire easels as the gala venue doesnt have wall space for us to utilise. There will be a theme to the art on display which we'll announce too. (anything incorporating tribal bellydance and blossoms being an obvious preference :) )

if anyone's finding good flight bargains just be sure to be here from friday night to sunday night (workshops finish at 6pm at this stage) inner city locations, very easy to get to....spread the word. 100 tickets only to the workshops, so it will be first in best dressed!

oh yes and Qld does have a traditionally "warmer" winter so you'll be escaping the winter chill!

        what do you think ladies?
  • this sounds awsome!
    • Hi everyone

Well it's here - We've finally locked in our line-up for Feast of the Senses and now its up to you - on offer is a series of wonderful workshops, and beautiful performances at our gala evening - thank you so much to everyone who generously offered to be part of our event, in keeping it all pretty small we've had to reduce the total performers & teachers but please know that we've already started our list for the next one as really I want to promote Australian talent and teachers as much as possible - its great to have the overseas guests but I also believe we have some great artists in our own dance family here too!

Anyone keen to come to Brisbanenext July for our Feast of the Senses, its time to let the cat out of the bag - please go to my website www.tribalblossoms.com and follow the links to feast of the senses, i've loaded the pdf to be downloaded so you can spread the word.

We're also compiling our list of Art to be displayed - interested artists we're looking to offer a theme of Dance, Women, and flowers - basically everything we're about :) so if you have something that will fit this theme please let me know. I'm also taking bookings from stallholders now for goodies on offer!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, look forward to seeing you in Bris in 2009! - Of course theres a lot of great bargains to be had right now with Virgin and Jetstar so its a good time to ask Santa to buy your flight and come and join us!!

      Cheers
      Dee
